Keeping Active in 2018

One of the most common resolutions people make in the new year is to get more active. If that’s something you’re keen to do in 2018, North Harbour has plenty of options to choose from.

North Harbour parkrun

North Harbour parkun

7am, every Saturday click here for more information

The North Harbour parkrun is a free off-road run, located in the future public park (part of the grounds of the Heritage Precinct which is under construction) along the beautiful Caboolture River. It’s a great chance to experience this environment as well as to get a preview of the Moray Fields Heritage Precinct.

Our coordinator, Connie Isherwood has been Co-Event Director of Central Lakes parkrun since its inception (December 2015) and has seen that community develop into a vibrant, inclusive and encouraging one.

People meet together, create and foster new friendships and discover a sense of belonging and purpose. Everyone who participates or volunteers always enjoys parkrun. It quite simply changes lives.

This is what I want for North Harbour parkrun and for the local community. The best thing is, you don’t have to be a seasoned runner to take part. Young and old, walkers and runners. It’s all about your own personal health and fitness journey.

North Harbour parkrun showcases the history and beautiful natural parklands in the area and will encourage people to take their first step towards a healthier lifestyle and to engage within the local community.”

Connie gave us her fitness tips for 2018:

  1. Start each day with morning activity – walk, run, swim, gym/strength. Even if it’s just 20 minutes to begin with
  2. Follow up with a healthy breakfast – protein rich is best
  3. No more excuses – make the time. You will feel physically and mentally stronger for it
  4. Change one thing in your current diet. When that is a habit, change something else. Don’t change too much at once – it’s overwhelming mentally and physically
  5. Enlist the support of a friend, PT or coach – someone to be accountable to

Bootcamp with Cam

We’re coming up to one year of Cam’s bootcamps at the Village Park! The training sessions have been extremely popular with a great take up from North Harbour residents.

We thoroughly enjoy working with Cam and are really pleased to see our Village Park getting such great use from our residents. As Cam says: “When I saw the North Harbour Village Park it was like a dream come true. Every trainer wants to have the perfect location with lights, plenty of grass and shelter. I found what I’ve always wanted and it was right where I wanted to live so I consider myself very lucky!”

If you’d like to come try Cam’s Village Park Bootcamps please contact Cam on 0403 932 060 or visit www.cam-fit.com.

And, if organised activities aren’t your thing – there are plenty of walking tracks to enjoy.

We’ll be back next week, until then – happy new year from us all ????
