What to Look for When You’re Buying a House

Buying a House

There is so much advice out there about what you should be doing when you’re buying a house, that it can become overwhelming. So, to keep it simple and make life easier, we’ve narrowed it down to three things to look for when you’re buying a house.

One: Research the local area

Homes for sale in North Brisbane can vary in affordability considerably, so make sure you choose an area with the best bang for your buck. For example, North Harbour is in the big growth suburb of Burpengary East and offers a variety of affordable housing options whilst still being in easy commuting distance of the CBD and Sunshine Coast.

Buying a house

In our brand-new master planned development, you can get a brand-new home with our house and land packages from $369,500 and each home at North Harbour has access to our high-speed broadband network, reticulated gas and proposed 1000 acres of open space and parks. We have four parks and 6km of mountain bike track already open with more to come and our lot sizes vary from 300sqm up to 950sqm plus. North Harbour offers more space, better amenities and a great place to live for less money.

Two: Check out the community

You need to make sure that the neighbourhood in which you’re buying a house, is a community you will be comfortable in. North Harbour has a thriving close-knit community making it a very warm and friendly place to call home.

North Harbour’s suburb of Burpengary East a very popular place to bring up kids as it offers lots of space and amenities. The area has a rural feel whilst being well located between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. There is plenty to do locally with weekly markets including BITE at North Harbour, plenty of sporting Clubs and venues, parks and community events and groups.

We’re close to schools (both state and private) and further education opportunities including TAFE and the USC Caboolture Campus and the Petrie campus opening in 2020. Burpengary East has its own shopping and medical complex, “The HUB”, which includes a Bakery, Fish & Chips, Liquor stor, Butcher, Pizza & Pasta takeaway, Childcare Centre, Spice Shop, Hair Dresser & Beautician, IGA, Dentist, Chemist, Accountant and Medical Centre which is under 5 minutes’ drive from North Harbour.

Buying a house

North Harbour and Burpengary East are also just 10 minutes from Costco and Morayfield shopping centre, and 15 minutes from Ikea and North Lakes Westfield. Both areas have excellent facilities, and both are big employers in the region. You never have to travel far to find what you need, from TKMaax to Bunnings, Officeworks, Spotlight and furniture warehouses.

Third:

Visit the property at different times to make sure you’re going to be happy living there. After all you’re probably not buying a house to only use at certain times, you want it to be liveable all the time.

Weekends are busy at North Harbour with so much to do including:

  • Bite Markets which open on Friday and Saturday nights
  • burger nights at the café on Friday night
  • free cross-country parkrun on a Saturday
  • free Yoga in the Park on Sundays
  • Cam’s boot camp on weekdays and Saturdays
  • 6kms of riverside mountain bike trail to use

North Harbour Parks and Community Facilities are the Best in Southeast Queensland!

1000 Acres of Open Space and Parks

North Harbour’s proposed parks and community facilities cover more than half of the North Harbour site at a total of 1000 acres, an area approximately the size of 600 football fields. Each park in North Harbour has something unique to offer and is designed to connect through bike and walking tracks as part of the North Harbour masterplan.

The Village Park: The Village Park was the first park to open at North Harbour in 2015 and offers play equipment suitable for older and younger children, plenty of space to play, BBQ and picnic shelters, and free Wi-Fi! The Village Park is also the home of Cam’s Boot Camp and is a popular central meeting place for families in our community.

Reflections Park: Reflections opened in 2017 and is located at the western corner of North Harbour, adjacent to Raff Creek Eco-Corridor. With play equipment for younger children, Reflections has plenty of flat space around for playing, and is also the home of our free weekly yoga class, Sunrise Yoga in the Park.

The Heritage Park: One of the most exciting and unique parts of the North Harbour masterplan is our Heritage Park which is located along the banks of Caboolture River.

The Heritage Park is the site of the original “Morayfields” settlement which dates from 1861 and was the first European settlement in the district.

The Heritage Park is a community attraction and has taken several years to develop, costing over $3M with $1,535,062 of funds coming from the Federal Government through a funding agreement with our community partner, the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology. Funding is through the Community Development Grants programme, provided through the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

The $1,535,062 Grant is being matched by North Harbour. The Abbey Museum and North Harbour are also working in partnership and providing significant “in-kind” support through project planning, project management, post-construction operation and maintenance.

The heritage aspects of the old site are being combined with a vast expanse of parkland including pathways and tracks for use by residents and visitors, allowing everyone to enjoy our slice of Queensland history and the Caboolture River. The first stages of construction have been completed including roads and other infrastructure, picnic areas including shelters, BBQs, tables and benches and toilet facilities. Our fishing platform / canoe launch and heritage centre will be next to be completed and the Heritage Park is proposed to open in late 2019.

The Heritage Park area can be accessed on Saturday mornings at 7.00am for North Harbour parkrun. For more information and directions please click here.
