North Harbour Parkrun, Free Sunday Yoga in the Park & What’s On in Moreton Bay

Spring has well and truly sprung at North Harbour with this week’s much needed rain bringing some green back to our beautiful neighbourhood.

It’s been a big week for many with Moreton Bay kids starting back at school for term four and the realisation that we’ve had our last public holiday until Christmas! But, never fear, we’re here to help you chill with two new upcoming free, weekly events – parkrun and Sunrise Yoga at the Park!

North Harbour Park Run

The team behind parkrun organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs around the world. These runs are open to everyone, free, and are safe and easy to take part in. As the name implies, parkrun events take place in pleasant parkland surroundings and the group encourages people of every ability to take part; from walkers or those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience.

The first North Harbour parkrun will be held on Saturday November 25th at 7am, and the route will start at our heritage precinct site and run along the river. It’s a great way to experience our little slice of Moreton Bay and will be the first time this part of the Caboolture River has been open to the public in many years. You will be able to sign up in early November when the parkrun website is completed.

Sunrise Yoga at the Park

Sunday Sunrise Yoga in the Park at North Harbour will be a new, weekly free event open to the community which will be held every Sunday at 8am. (I know this is technically not sunrise – but we didn’t want to get up too early on a Sunday!). The start date and location will be advised in the coming weeks.

Our teacher is the lovely Dionne from “Body Rythm” who has been teaching for many years and lives locally in Burpengary East.

As Dionne says, “North Harbour’s yoga class will provide an amazing way to connect with other yogis (those who practise yoga) or to take your first step to creating and learning a yoga practise. It is designed for those who need to stretch, for those who struggle with certain areas of the body and for those who do not move at all and spend most of their day on a chair. The class helps to target deeper connective tissue. This class is perfect for everybody and all levels welcome.

“I am a Yoga Instructor and also trained in Pilates and Barre. I come from a professional dance and entertainment background. I have trained in Yoga and Pilates over the years I turned back to Yoga more regularly to rebuild my strength from the inside out. From there my previous experience in dance drew me to Pilates and Ballet Barre. I since underwent my Barre and Pilates course as well as Yoga teacher training. It has not only changed my physical body but my attitude towards life. Through this experience I feel drawn to assist others to `Reignite their Sparkle’!”
