Retirement Living at North Harbour

North Harbour is a unique, masterplanned residential development in Burpengary East, halfway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, located along 9km of direct Caboolture River frontage and 10 minutes from beautiful Moreton Bay.

North Harbour has excellent amenities for retirement living with high speed internet connection, reticulated natural gas to every home and plenty of opportunities to keep fit and healthy in and around our four parks including walking tracks, free yoga classes and outdoor fitness equipment. A fishing platform / canoe launch and Heritage Centre will also be opened around the end of 2019 as part of our forthcoming $3M Heritage Park precinct. We have North Harbour Café on site which is open seven days a week for light meals and beverages, and for weekend treats and family catch ups, Bite Markets at North Harbour is open every Friday and Saturday night and is a short 3-minute drive away offering over 40 dining options in one alfresco dining precinct.

North Harbour is well located approximately 45 minutes from Brisbane and 35 minutes from the Sunshine Coast. The development offers easy access to the Bruce Highway and Morayfield and Burpengary train stations are just 10 minutes away. Burpengary East has its own medium sized shopping and medical complex, “The HUB”, which is just under 5 minutes’ drive from North Harbour and includes a Bakery, Fish & Chips, Bottle-o, Butcher, Pizza & Pasta takeaway, Childcare Centre, Spice Shop, Hairdresser & Beautician, IGA, Dentist, Chemist, Accountant, Naturopath and Medical Centre. North Lakes Westfield, Burpengary and Morayfield shopping centres, as well as Costco, Bunnings, Spotlight and IKEA are within a 15 minute drive.

What sets North Harbour apart from similarly sized southeast Queensland residential developments, is that on completion it will offer 1000 acres of open space and parklands including environmental corridors, river access and a unique $3M Heritage Park (currently under construction).

This proposed 1000 acres of open space and parklands includes walking and bike tracks, lots of trees (almost 60,000 have already been planted) and plenty of play parks, BBQs, artworks and picnic areas as well as exercise equipment. North Harbour has four parks open already, a Mountain Bike Trail and parkrun/ walking course around the Caboolture River and offers weekly free events which are open to everyone in the community including North Harbour parkrun and Sunrise Yoga in the Park.

North Harbour has welcomed many residents looking to downsize into a brand-new home for a variety of reasons, including downsizing from acreage or wanting a more manageable house for retirement living.

Buying a retirement home

Our North Harbour downsizers have chosen to buy with us for a variety of reasons from value to amenities including fitness opportunities, location and more.

Resident Paul Omerod said; “We thought that North Harbour offered great value for the size of the plot. Easy access to motorway making both the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane city within easy reach”.

We looked at already established properties and found that with each house we looked at, there were compromises to be made and nothing really ticked all the boxes of what we were really looking for. We found that with a new build we could have the house design and features that we wanted and was more cost effective than buying a ready established house and then having to make the changes to fit our needs.”

Buying a retirement home

Bud and Jillian Pratt wanted to downsize and stay local; “We have lived in Burpengary East (off Buckley Road) for almost 10 years and wanted to stay in this area. We decided to build a new home rather than purchase an established property as we couldn’t find anything suitable and to our liking. We needed to downsize from a large house on a half-acre block to something more manageable.”

Buying a retirement home

We have several blocks available which work well for retirement living offering an open view across the eco-corridor of North Harbour with easy access to walkways and cycle tracks and our corner blocks have space to keep a caravan/ campervan or boat. For more information please contact us.

Downsizing into New Homes

North Harbour has been very pleased to welcome many residents looking to downsize into a brand-new home. Our downsizer residents have the experience of owning homes which gives them greater insight when building – they know what they want and don’t want.

As resident Paul Omerod said; “We looked at already established properties and found that with each house we looked at, there were compromises to be made and nothing really ticked all the boxes of what we were really looking for. We found that with a new build we could have the house design and features that we wanted and was more cost effective than buying a ready established house and then having to make the changes to fit our needs.”

Many of our downsizing residents say one of their key reasons for choosing North Harbour is an opportunity to enjoy an active lifestyle into retirement. Our proposed 1000 acres of open space (over half of the entire development) and parklands offer plenty of options for recreation. Our first park, the Village Park, opened in October 2015 at the end of Moreton Bay Boulevard. It incorporates two areas of play equipment to suit both older children and pre-schoolers and has free Wi-Fi, shelters, drinking fountains (for people and pets) and BBQs on 6000m2 of beautifully landscaped space.

North Harbour - Landscaped Space

Our second park opened in late 2017. Named Reflections Park, it is located on the south-western side of North Harbour near the Raff Creek Environmental Corridor it includes play equipment aimed at young children (different to the Village Park to give residents and visitors lots of choice), BBQs and shelters. Reflections is the home of our free weekly Sunrise Yoga in the Park class every Sunday morning at 7am. Later this year we will be adding outdoor exercise equipment in fitness stations which will provide our residents with the opportunity for free workouts in beautiful surroundings.

We have several blocks currently available to suit downsizers with easy access to walkways and cycle tracks. To find out more about our land for sale please contact us.

North Harbour - Walkways

That’s it for this week, please note that our Sales & Information Centre will be closed on Wednesday for Anzac Day, April 25th. Have a good one!
