The Heritage Park Precinct is open on weekends for the community to enjoy
North Harbour is working hard to reopen the Heritage Precinct and Mountain Bike trail for the community to enjoy every day.
Our master-planned community in Burpengary East is moving forward with its infrastructure development to provide direct access to the highway, making commuting to work or leisurely trips a breeze.
While firm indication cannot currently be provided for the full access opening, we are currently opening access to the precinct on weekends, every Saturday and Sunday between 6am and 6pm.
The separate access road will be clearly marked – please follow directions to the Heritage precinct.
Further updates on when we will reopen fulltime will be given at a later date. Please follow the clearly marked separate access road leading to the Heritage Precinct.
Should you have any questions about the access closure, please contact our Community Engagement Manager, Vicki Wood via email:
Take a step back in time and imagine yourself 160 years ago, in one of the first European settlements in Southeast Queensland. The “Moray Fields” sugar plantation was owned by George Raff, who originally hailed from Morayshire in Scotland, hence the name he chose for his sugar plantation.
Raff was an important figure in the first Queensland Parliament and this settlement had immense economic importance for the region supplying sugar, rum and molasses to the growing population. This site also has a history being one of the places which used “indentured” labour, from the South Sea Islands. The Heritage Park remembers the Kanaka people and we encourage you to visit and imagine what life must have been like for indentured labourers in those times. Space is made available for the South Sea Islander community to remember their ancestors at this place.
The heritage relics along the Heritage Trail have been carefully preserved and tell the stories and significant developments of the North Harbour site from early European settlement through to the present day. Our heritage trails offer educational signage allowing for complete immersion in this special space.
Dogs are welcome at Heritage Park, providing they remain on a lead at all times and do not wander onto the heritage artefacts. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.

When you first arrive at Heritage Park, we recommend you visit the Compass Centre which tells the history of the North Harbour, “Moray Fields”, site through historic photographs, sketches and display objects which allow visitors to appreciate the stories and significant developments from the past up to the present day.
After learning about the history of the site, you can then walk through the heritage trails and view the remaining artefacts of the residents of yesteryear such as the Old Well, and the steps of the Old Homestead.

North Harbour is utilising the site’s nine kilometres of river frontage to establish a community with a lifestyle unlike any other that’s on offer in the region.
Explore the many bends of the river and try to hook what is the locals’ favourite catch, a Mangrove Jack. They say there’s plenty of fish on offer but exactly where to catch them remains one of the region’s best-kept secrets.
